Last night I had some emergency business to take care of. SM Isbell was kind enough to take care of the meeting. The report I received was that she was second-guessed and challenged on some issues. That does not make me happy. My more seasoned Cadets know better and know that, unless the order or directive will bring harm to themselves or someone else, they are to follow orders and directives to the letter, then take it up the Chain of Command if they feel it was incorrect or unjust. The junior cadets learn by your example. If challenging a Senior Member unjustly has become your example, you are way way way out of line. A breakdown of the Chain of Command, Military Bearing, and Customs and Courtesies is a sure fire way to collapse the operational effectiveness of a unit. There will be things that you do not like. Welcome to reality. Your Parents will tell you that you will experience many things in life that you do not like or do not want to do … but you must. The true test of dedication and commitment comes from supporting all aspects of your service through the good and bad. Come On Folks! You Know Better!
Traditionally, when a meeting falls after a Monday holiday, we do not have a meeting that week. I had instructed SM Isbell to pass on that there would be no meeting next Tuesday. Monday is a Federal Holiday and a Teacher Work Day, and historically turn out is low at the next days meeting. Apparently, some of you gave her some flack for it. NC805 is a CAP Unit under the operational and administrative direction of the United States Air Force. We are a uniformed service and have a Chain of Command. NC805 is NOT a democracy! I thought my directive was very clear. When SM Isbell passed on the information, it should have been noted by all without comment. There will NOT be a meeting next Tuesday the 20th of February. Enjoy a week off, and if you feel compelled to do something CAP on that night, study for your next testing. I have no objections if you wish to form a study group at one of your homes. LT
