To all NC805 Cadets,
I hope you all had a great Christmas! The New Year will mark the end of a tremendous year filled with great strides forward in the development of our still young squadron. Here is a recap of just some of the NC805 events and accomplishments in 2006:
* March completed the end of the very first annual cycle of Operation Evacuation Registration (OER) and the initial creation of J-TIP (Joint - Training Initiative Program). It also marked the initial beginning of the development (By Cadet Eric Williams) of this NC805 Forum Website designed to keep Cadets connected to each other and to real-time information updates by command staff.
* June marked the passing of the DCC hat from Major Fry to Lieutenant Blucker. Due to a career building promotion as an educator and the time it required, Major Fry passed the hat leaving a history of outstanding service and accomplishment in building the NC805 Cadet Corps.
* July completed our first Unit Bivouac where many of your fellow Cadets earned their UBB (Unit Bivouac Button), learning the basics in Woodland Navigation, Military Radio Communications, and Mission Base Camp Operations and Procedures.
* August marked the completion of our 2nd Unit Bivouac where most of our remaining Cadets, who were not able to attend the 1st Unit Bivouac in July, were able to earn their UBB.
* September marked the completion of the documentation and planning process for future joint training initiatives between local AFJROTC Units and CAP-NC805 under J-TIP. It also closed with a fantastic Cadet ran Recruiting Drive that increased our Cadet Corp by 30%. It also brought to us (transferred from CAP Oklahoma Wing) our new Executive Officer (XO), Captain Joe Isbell with his caring heart and wealth of knowledge.
* October brought our first major J-TIP function with the very successful completion if the very first Blue Ranger Leadership Bivouac. A huge congrats goes out to all of our cadets who entered this tough (mini-bootcamp) program completed it and earned the status of Blue Ranger.
* November saw the final development of the J-TIP Boosters (created by Tammy Egan and Stacy Isbell) sponored by the parents and supporters of Cadets to help local Cadets with pledges of future assistance in equipment and programs for all local Cadet Corps. These caring folks have pledged to help make your future programming even more successful than in the past, and should be applauded and appreciated. November also gave way to completion of a three year dream when NC805 and the City of Elizabeth City entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that officially recognised NC805 and Blue Ranger Cadets as an important part of the local area emergency services and disaster relief plan, under operational partnership with the City of Elizabeth City Police and Fire Departments.
* December brought this highly successful year to a close with several significant Cadet Promotions, development of a Blue Ranger SOP for NC805 Blue Rangers, our Unit's first truely comprehensive Recall Roster and Organizational Chart that provides Cadets with a truistic 2007 Structure enabling them to effectively run their Cadet Squadron, our first true representation in the E'City Holiday Parade (NC805 received high praise from parade attendees), and a fantastic Christmas Pizza Party sponsored by the J-TIP Boosters.
Thanks to all of you, 2006 proved a great year, and left the command with no doubt that 2007 will be an exciting year for NC805 and our Cadet Corp. On behalf of our Commanding Officer (Captain Elliott), our Executive Officer (Captain Isbell), and the entire command (Senior) staff, thank you. We're very proud of all of you.
